About La Grange and La Grange Park
Located approximatley 13 miles west of downtown Chicago, La Grange (sometimes spelled LaGrange) was first settled in the 1830's. Shortly thereafter, the neighboring area that would become known as La Grange Park was settled by five hard-working farmers. When the railroad came to town, La Grange became a milk stop. Then, the Chicago fire of 1871 brought more families to these communities. Dozens of these families were taken in by early settlers, and were so pleased with the hospitality and surroundings that they decided to stay. Today La Grange and La Grange Park have a combined population of roughly 28,000. Other neaby communities to which Phillip's delivers include Brookfield, Countryside, Hillside, Hodgkins, Indianhead Park, La Grange Highlands, Lyons, North Riverside, Oak Park, River Forest, Riverside, Westchester, and Western Springs.
